Do I need to have my premises surveyed?
Under the 2012 Control of Asbestos Regulations, as ‘dutyholder’ for a non-domestic premises it is your responsibility to undergo a ‘suitable and sufficient assessment’ in order to establish whether asbestos is present. In short this means that you require an asbestos management survey completed by a qualified surveyor. Contact us for more information about surveys.
I have asbestos in my premises, what should I do?
If a qualified surveyor has identified the presence of asbestos in your premises then you have three main options: manage, encapsulate, or remove.
Which option you should proceed under is mainly determined by the risk level of the identified asbestos. Medium and High Risk materials will usually require immediate removal, while Low Risk materials can be encapsulated and managed.
